Diesel Generator Battery

  • Types of Diesel generator battery
  • Battery Capacity: The capacity of diesel generator batteries typically ranges from 200 milliampere-hour (mAh) to 3000 mAh, with voltage options including 2.4V, 4V, 6V, 8V, 12V, and 24V. Generally, diesel generator sets use 12V or 24V batteries for starting purposes.
  • Maintenance: Dry charged batteries require routine maintenance, including the need to periodically add distilled water to the electrolyte. On the other hand, maintenance-free batteries do not require regular maintenance and have a longer service life than traditional batteries.
  • Types of Maintenance-Free Batteries: Two types of maintenance-free batteries are available on the market. The first type comes with an electrolyte solution that is added at the time of purchase and does not require further maintenance. The second type is sealed with electrolyte when it leaves the factory.
  • Dry Charged Battery: The dry charged battery, also known as the dry charged lead-acid battery, has a high power storage capacity in the negative plate. When completely dry, it can store power for up to two years. It requires the addition of electrolyte before use and has voltage stability and low cost as its main advantages. However, it has a shorter service life and requires frequent routine maintenance.
